What is I-Share?

Answer

I-Share borrowing is a free service offered to Rush University Medical Center students, faculty and staff. I-Share allows Rush users to borrow print materials from other academic and institutional libraries in Illinois by placing a request via our online catalog or by visiting any I-Share library in person.

Generally, most I-Share items are lent under the same terms as items borrowed from Rush, but the lending institution determines which items can be requested. Textbooks, materials held in a library's reference or reserve collections or other special collections are usually not requestable.

The I-Share service is used to borrow physical materials only; it does not provide access to other institutions' electronic resources or e-books, and cannot be used to request journal articles or book chapters (for journal articles or book chapters, use ILLiad, Rush's interlibrary loan service).
